Making backups

With all the data that I maintain on my personal machine, it's ironic that I don't have a good method of backing up that data. The problem is, I have so much data that I have no where that I can make a copy as a backup.

I was cleaning my room when I stumbled across an old hard drive (yes, call me a geek, I actually FOUND a hard drive in my room I didn't know I had). It was large enough to hold all the data I could not afford to lose. To my surprise, I found that when I plugged the drive in there was still information on it, some dating back to 2002! I could hardly contain the excitement of finding such a treasure. What would I find contained within the cold metal exterior of the once departed device?

I calmed myself down and started perusing this unorganized time-capsule to find a number of files that I'd in fact been looking for quite some time ago. Pictures, Documents, Journal entries... mostly pictures. My not-so-long-lost XML journal was even on there, safe and sound; undisturbed for ages.

I decided to take a break from my diligent backup operation to reminisce over some old memories. Unfortunately, this was not the case, most of the memories contained within the covers of my electronic diary were of ones I'd not have preferred to re-live.

I certainly don't regret reading those memories of my less than perfect past. It's almost as if I, unknowingly at the time, wrote them specifically so that they would be read right at this moment.
